“To empower people with disability to be active, independent and valued members of their local community”.


The purpose of Disability Information Advocacy Service Inc is to inform and/or advocate for people with disability to ensure they have the same rights and level of access to all community facilities as other community members.


Disability Information Advocacy Service:


  • Will provide information, and advocacy for people with a disability, their families and carers to assist them to access community facilities;
  • Believes in the right of people to make choices in their own lives;
  • Believes in the right of people to dignity, respect, privacy and confidentiality;
  • Believes in the right of people to be valued as individuals;
  • Believes in the right of people to access services on a non-discriminatory basis.


The outcomes pursued by the Disability Information Advocacy Service Inc are:

  • That people who have disability are empowered to make life choices for themselves;
  • To provide a service in line with the NSW Disability Services Act (1993) and the NSW Disability Service Standards;
  • That family and other primary caregivers are supported in their role;
  • That the agency operates in an effective, efficient and accountable manner.

Service Users

DIAS provides free and independent Individual Advocacy to people with physical, intellectual, sensory and neurological disability, their families and their carers.

0-65 years of age.

Service Areas

DIAS is located in Bathurst. DIAS provides an Outreach Service to Cowra, Dubbo, Mudgee, Orange, Parkes and surrounds.


DIAS welcomes and encourages feedback, complaints and enquiries.  We regularly ask clients, service providers and stakeholders to complete surveys. Information gained in these surveys is used for service improvement.
